About Me
Welcome! My name is Edwina Hoyle, but you can call me Eddy. I live in the Lowcountry of South Carolina with my husband, Renny, and our lovable pooch, Gizmo. I’m an accomplished writer and I pride myself on being a wordsmith. Over the years I’ve had poetry and essays published, and I‘ve worked as a journalist, a freelance writer and editor.
I’m now on a journey to publish my first novel, and I invite you to tag along. Your feedback and encouragement is welcome.
AN AMBER PRISON is a story of trauma, resilience, and the courage to break free from toxic relationships...to live life on one's own terms. It’s about the complex relationship between mothers and daughters – a saga of two generations of women imprisoned by secrets, broken by trauma.
It’s an epic tale that begins in 1865 in rural Lithuania under Russian occupation. Poverty, oppression and famine drove peasants to do the unspeakable. As a child Ona was abandoned, as a woman she was raped, yet she never shared her shameful secret. Uncertain who fathered her baby, Marita, Ona’s fears and secrets rotted her spirit and drove her to the brink of madness. This trauma transformed her from the abused to the abuser. Their poisoned relationship caused Ona to send Marita off to America when she was only 16.
The lack of a mother’s love was Marita’s strongest weakness. In America she married Victor and found true, unconditional love, and they created a family. Tragedy struck and nearly broke her. Love for her children gave her the strength and resilience to go on and enabled Marita to quell Ona's power over her. Breaking free from her toxic influence, she swore to live a life of her own design.
Spanning over 50 years, this multi-generational saga explores the profound and enduring effects of trauma through the lens of the mother-daughter relationship. But ultimately, it celebrates the human spirit's incredible ability to survive even the deepest wounds and find resilience and redemption.

About
Do you have something to say?
Words are miraculous building blocks. Strung together in myriad ways, they express love or hate, our ideas and visions, our wishes, dreams and passions. They are used to nurture, teach, comfort and tell stories. Words allow us to analyze, express opinions, and debate.
I love words.
